Sunday Mass Times Survey

St. Lawrence Newman Center is proposing a shift to our Sunday Mass times. Beginning in January 2026, we would shift to 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. instead of our normal 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Please fill out this 2-question survey below to provide your input by Wednesday, November 12.

Current Sunday Mass Times

Proposed Sunday Mass Times starting January 2026

Reasons for Proposed Change: 

• Mass attendance has decreased at the 8 am while the 10:30 am continues to increase

• The 10:30 am attendance is disproportionately large compared to the 8am. We believe the 8 am is likely too early for college students.

• The 10:30 am is hard to find a seat at, in theory this change would distribute the attendance better and promote growth in mass attendance at St Lawrence.

• We currently switch to a 9am mass morning mass when the semester is not session. If we switched to this schedule, we would only need to drop the 11am and keep the 9am time... In theory, it would be less confusing.

• Out of the 14 schools in the "Big 10" that have Newman Centers, we are only 1 of 2 Newman Centers that offers an 8 am mass time.

• We decided not to propose a 9am & 1030am because the parking lot needs time to empty and refill between the two morning masses
